Discipline a child – has that been a big issue for you. Are you clueless how to handle the terrible twos? Want help to handle children with tantrums? Want to know how to deal with tantrums in toddlers? Then you have come to the right page, first of all thank you for reading my article.   Firstly let me tell you little about myself and why am I writing this article. I have a three and a half year old daughter who can definitely not be called a calm child, so have gone through a let while disciplining her, so below are some tried and tested ways in my attempt to discipline her. 1) Distraction: What I have noticed is that it’s very easy to divert attention of my daughter, but the condition is the distraction has to be something that she really enjoys or something that she really wants. Like for example when she starts yelling to get something for what we have said no, I quickly become the monster that has come to eat her, she loves to play this monster act with me a lot, so she immediately starts running and laughing. 2) Disappointment: Show the child that you are really disappointed with her behaviour, don’t yell or shout as you know by now that’s not effective. I have tried this with my daughter telling her that I didn’t like at all what you did just now, you are behaving very badly, I am very disappointed with you and I am not going to talk to you, say it very calmly but with a sad expression on your face, it works, she can’t see me not talking to her. 3) Scare them: What I mean is not to frighten them but to make them realize that the consequence of what they are doing is not something that they like, for example my daughter has a habit of touching all the vegetables fruits when we to go the grocery shop. One day on the way to the shop I told her that you know on the vegetables and fruits there are very very small germs that we can’t see that’s the reason mummy washes anything before cutting or chopping it. So when we reached the shop and she started to touch the vegetables I just reminded her about what I had told her on the way. She immediately stopped.
